The Wooster Collective invited many of their fellow graffiti and cultural artists to beautify the building at 11 Spring St. in NYC before it is torn down to make way for a high-rise. PSFK has a video walk through of the space and their are various pics up on Flickr as well. I have not gotten the chance to head down there but hope to make it out this weekend. There is some absolutely brilliant work there.

Fun With Google Patent Search
Google Patents launched earlier this week and it looks to be a pretty impressive tool for searching from over 7 million patents issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. I found a few interesting ones including: Creating gradient fills from Adobe, Hot unpluggable media storage device from Apple, and System for web content management based on server-side application.

Dream App: Proposal Gallery
Peter Flaschner has made a terrific suggestion of providing a proposal gallery to share ideas on content, layout and design. “It would be organized by category. Prices and names (including firm names) could be blacked out. The point would be to create a resource for best practices in proposal writing.” Any web developers or designers game for developing this? If so, please get in touch with me to discuss further (daniel at graphicdefine period org).

Firing Difficult Clients?
Kerry has provided a follow up of his Difficult Clients post with Difficult Clients II in which he suggests that sometimes you just have to fire the client, a statement that I reluctantly but wholeheartedly agree with.Kerry has provided a follow up of his Difficult Clients post, which I provided several possible solutions to on Graphic Define, with Difficult Clients II. He suggests that sometimes you just have to fire the client, a statement that I reluctantly but wholeheartedly agree with. Sometimes relationships just don’t work, no matter how hard you try. Kerry goes on to provide a series of steps to let the client go and make sure that there are no hard feelings.

Seven Habits Book Summaries
I’ve been listening to Stephen Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People for the past three weeks. The whold recording is almost 6 hours long, and suffice it to say that I have had to constantly pause and rewind to make sure that I am retaining this information. Being an audiobook at 6+ hours long, you can imagine my enthusiasm when I realized that there is a study guide out there that could help me retain this information. Profit Advisors has the excellent Seven Habits Book Summaries. A terrific overview of all the gold that is contained within the Seven Habits tome.

Bad Analysis: 10 reasons people make stupid decisions
Bad Analysis provides the 10 reasons people make stupid decisions. See how many of these ring a bell:
10. We’ve come this far… (sunk cost bias)
9. Me me me! (egocentric bias)
8. That just proves my point. (confirmation bias)
7. That’s easy. (overconfidence)
6. I’m #1! I’m #1! (dysfunctional competition
