Communication Nation: The craftsman-to-manager paradox August 26, 2005
Dave Gray, founder and CEO of XPLANE, writes a great post this morning on the craftsman-to-manager paradox. I know that we are all a little guilty of this. I think as a designer it is in our nature to want to take the reigns of a project or fix whats broken, rather than allowing others to learn for themselves. I’ve been given some sage advice from a close friend: “Sometimes you need to let people fuck up and be held accountable rather than shield them from catastrophe. We are all human and we all need to learn. For some it has to be the hard way!”
By the way, check out the other posts on David’s blog. There’s some terrific stuff in there!
